USN Omaha Class Light Cruisers

Warship Pictorial Photo Album Series

Created as a warship resource guide; covering all ships in a single class with official US Navy photographs, highlighted history and statistical sheet for each vessel.

Omaha Class Light Cruisers

These sleek vessels were designed as scouts for the main battle fleet and as destroyer flotilla leaders.  With their four tall, thin funnels, they could not be mistaken for any other class of cruisers in the US Navy.  Another unique feature of the Omahas was their main armament arrangement of twin turrets and outdated single casemate mounts.  In WW II, the Omahas served their country well as convoy escorts and earned a total of 17 battle stars.

Cost: $11.95
